Fall 2008- I had a chance to go fossil-hunting in SC with some friends at the LaFarge quarry near Charleston. I wanted to share some "as found" pics of 2 Auriculatis shark teeth.

2 different species of Tiger Shark- on the right is direct ancestor to modern tiger sharks, a mayumbensis tooth from Zolfo Springs, Fla. On the left is a fossil version of the modern tiger shark, Galeocerdo cuvier from Arcadia on the Peace River. Notice the differences in tooth shape, even though size is similar. About 1-1/4 in.
